What is the ESAT?

The Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT) is a computer-based admissions test run by UAT UK and taken at Pearson VUE test centres. It is used by Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge for engineering, natural sciences and related courses, and replaced the older NSAA and ENGAA tests.

There are five modules — Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Mathematics 1 is compulsory; most candidates take it plus two further modules chosen to match their course. Each module is 27 multiple-choice questions in 40 minutes, scored on a 1–9 scale with no penalty for wrong answers and no calculator. Always confirm which modules your course requires.
